Application Tips
The best application tip I can give is to experiment – try different ways of applying mineral makeup – find which best suits you – and practice – get the right coverage for your skin – and most of all – enjoy!
A few rules to remember before applying mineral makeup:
- Apply your moisturiser and leave to soak in at least 5 to 10 minutes before applying minerals – otherwise you will get a cakey look.
- A little goes a long way – apply foundation in light layers and buff, buff, buff into the skin, use only a small amount on your kabuki.
- Always tap out powder into the jar lid, do not put fingers or brushes directly into the jar, and always keep the powder dry.
Foundation
Tap a little powder into the jar lid
SWIRL your kabuki brush into the powder
TAP off excess powder by gently tapping brush against jar lid
BASH your brush – with bristles facing upwards, sharply tap the base of the brush onto a hard surface – this will drop the powder into the brush
Starting at the outside edge or jaw line, apply powder by buffing into skin in a circular motion, apply a little pressure here and work inward towards the centre of the face.
Re-load your brush as above and keep buffing till you have the desired coverage.
Make your own tinted moisturiser – add a little of your mineral foundation to your favourite moisturiser and apply to skin, remember minerals are good for your skin.
Finishing Powder
Tap a little powder into the jar lid
SWIRL your kabuki brush into the powder
TAP off excess powder by gently tapping brush against jar lid
BASH your brush – with bristles facing upwards, sharply tap the base of the brush onto a hard surface – this will drop the powder into the brush
You can apply finishing powder by buffing in a circular motion as with foundation; remember a little goes a long way.
Our finishing powder is translucent; if your skin looks too white or chalky – you have probably applied too much, remember buff, buff, buff!
Bronzer
Tap a little powder into the jar lid
SWIRL your kabuki brush into the powder
TAP off excess powder by gently tapping brush against jar lid
BASH your brush – with bristles facing upwards, sharply tap the base of the brush onto a hard surface – this will drop the powder into the brush.
Apply bronzer to cheeks, nose and forehead for a summer glow.
Our bronzer can also be added to your favourite body lotion to an all over glow.
Use wet or dry for your eyes – dip your shadow or liner brush in water, then into your bronzer (tapped into jar lid) swirl onto the back of your hand, and apply to eyelid.
Make your own lip colour. You can either apply powder directly to your lips and cover with lip gloss, or add a little powder to clear lip gloss to create your own colour.
Blushers
A little goes a long, long way with our blushers – before applying to cheeks, gently tap your brush again on the back of your hand, and only use a tiny amount. Swirl onto apples of cheeks for a rosy glow.
Our blushers can also be used wet or dry on eyes, or on lips – see bronzers
Concealers
Yellow – great for under eye shadow, apply before or after foundation. Use a large eye shadow brush or small shading brush, apply powder under eye and on eyelid, and blend in using your kabuki brush.
This concealer will also cover some redness in the cheek; use your kabuki brush to buff onto skin.
Green – great for hiding redness, either use a small shading brush or your kabuki in the same way as applying foundation. The trick here is not to apply too much – you don’t want to look like ‘shrek’. Apply very small amount – your redness should be just covered – or ever so slightly gray, then you are ready for your foundation..
